For My Soul Stars: Why I Choose Every Day to Make It My Most Beautiful One
For My Soul Stars
Why I Choose Every Day to Make It My Most Beautiful One
By Renée Ambarees
There is a kind of loss that does not have a word in most languages.
The loss of a child you never got to hold. The loss of a life that was forming — full of possibility, full of promise — and then, quietly, was gone.
I know that loss.
Not once. But more than once.
And I want to tell you something that took me years to understand:
My Soul Stars did not leave me.
They became my compass.
The Name I Was Given
Renée means the reborn one.
I did not choose this name. But I have spent my entire life living up to it.
Every time life brought me to my knees — and it did, more than once — something in me refused to stay down. Not because I was strong. But because somewhere, in the deepest part of me, I felt them.
My Soul Stars.
Guiding me forward. Whispering: not yet. there is more. keep going.
I believe they chose me as their mother — not so I could keep them here, but so they could set me free.
Free from the life I was performing. Free from the sentences I had inherited. Free from the smile that was a mask instead of a key.
They came through me so that I could become who I was always meant to be.
And I owe them everything.
The Decision I Make Every Morning
Every morning I wake up and I make a decision.
Not a big, dramatic decision. A quiet one.
I choose to make today my most beautiful day.
Not because everything is perfect. Not because the pain is gone. Not because the losses have stopped hurting.
But because I have been given something extraordinary:
This day. This one. This unrepeatable, irreplaceable day.
And I ask myself — the question that changed everything for me:
If this were my last day, how would I choose to live it?
Would I spend it hiding? Performing? Shrinking myself to fit into rooms that were never built for me?
Or would I roller skate under a rainbow? Dance with a hula hoop on a rooftop? Drink coconut water in the Caribbean sun and feel — really feel — the miracle of being alive in this body?
Life is not waiting for you to be ready.
Life is happening right now. In this breath. In this smile. In this moment you are reading these words.
What My Soul Stars Taught Me
They taught me that love has no conditions.
Not the love I grew up with — the love that came with sentences and expectations and the quiet threat of withdrawal. But real love. Soul love. The kind that asks nothing and gives everything.
They taught me that loss is not the opposite of life.
Loss is part of life. And inside every loss — if you are willing to look — there is gold.
Not immediately. Not easily. But it is there.
The gold of understanding. The gold of compassion. The gold of a depth that cannot be taught — only lived.
I have been to the depths.
I know what it feels like when you cannot think. When the body carries what the mind cannot process. When you stand in front of the mirror and do not recognize the woman looking back at you.
And I know the way back.
Not because I read it in a book. But because I walked every difficult part of it myself.
Your Life Loves You
I want to say something that may surprise you.
Your life loves you.
Every experience you have had — even the ones that broke you open, especially the ones that broke you open — has been preparing you for exactly this moment.
The betrayals. The losses. The times you were left standing alone when you expected to be held.
None of it was punishment.
All of it was preparation.
Your Soul Stars — the loves you have lost, the dreams that did not unfold the way you planned, the versions of yourself that had to die so that a truer version could emerge — they are not gone.
They are with you.
They are the reason you are still here.
They are the reason you woke up this morning.
Recognize Your Worth. Begin to Live.
You have one life.
Not a rehearsal. Not a draft. This one. The one you are living right now.
And you have — if you are reading this — at least one more day.
One more day to choose.
To choose joy over performance. Truth over approval. Your real smile over the one you learned to wear.
To choose to take up space — fully, unapologetically, beautifully.
To choose to see the gold in what you have lived.
To choose to make today — this unrepeatable, extraordinary, ordinary day — your most beautiful one.
Not for me. Not for anyone else.
For your Soul Stars.
For every soul that came through you, or touched you, or loved you — and is now guiding you from somewhere you cannot see but can always feel.
They did not give you this life so you could play small.
They gave you this life so you could live it.
All of it.
